Believe in the Run, an independent run culture outlet, has launched GRIT, a summer distance project presented by Polar. The event challenges runners to go beyond their average summer running goals, as runners choose between distance tiers of 25, 75, 150, 225, or 300 miles to finish in a chosen 30-day span over the course of the summer months.
As the organizer say, “It will be hot. It will be long. For some, it will be hell. But the rewards will be sweet.”
The event, aptly named GRIT, coincides with the release of the Polar Grit X, an outdoor multisport watch that combines style, strength and Polar’s training features.
Registration for the event opened on June 8 and will close on August 24, 2020. The event period officially commenced on the first day of summer, June 20, and will conclude on the last day of summer, September 22. Runners may choose any 30-day period within the event dates to complete their miles.
A portion of all proceeds will go to The DONNA Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance and support for individuals living with breast cancer and funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.
The event is open to all runners in the United States; international runners may also join for free, but will not be eligible for registration giveaways or sponsor prizes.
“We’re always looking to help athletes push their personal goals, and with the recent release of our outdoor product Grit X, the partnership with Believe in the Run is one that aligns seamlessly with Polar,” says Tom Fowler, President of Polar USA. “It’s exciting to know that people from all over will be getting back outside– especially with such an important cause in mind.”
Event premiums include an ASICS branded distance-specific shirt, soft enamel pin, sticker and temporary tattoo pack, and a Believe in the Run BOCO Gear neck gaiter. Weekly prize raffles and grand prizes will include Polar Grit X GPS watches and Polar heart rate monitors, ASICS footwear and apparel, and firefly recovery devices.
Big Run Media, a full-service branding, social media, and creative design agency and parent company of Believe in the Run, will manage the digital marketing efforts for the event.
