Her Summit, a virtual women’s retreat created to increase comfort, accessibility and knowledge of outdoor sports for women was introduced today by Life Time, an omnichannel healthy lifestyle brand that owns and operates luxury athletic resorts and iconic athletic events. The virtual weekend gathering is specifically focused on running, cycling and getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. It will take place over the course of a long weekend, March 19-21, during Women’s History Month.

As Life Time continues to advocate for gender parity within athletic events, Her Summit is open to all female-identifying athletes who are interested in learning more about a new sport or a new outdoor activity, along with endurance and outdoor veterans to hone their skills and get expert advice from top leaders. Life Time experts and industry leaders, athletes and brands will each host entertaining and informative sessions throughout the weekend, including ones led by Trail Sisters, Black Girls Run!, and Elevated Alpine. Keynote speakers and presenters will be announced throughout the month leading up to the virtual weekend on Facebook, Instagram and online.

Life Time has enlisted the help of industry leaders, athletes and brands to host the sessions throughout the weekend, including ones led by Trail Sisters, Black Girls Run!, and Elevated Alpine. Among them:

  • Alison Hadden, Founder of No Time to Waste Podcast, Motivational Speaker, Lifelong Athlete, Marketing Executive
  • Anika Christ, Director of Nutrition and Master Trainer at Life Time, Registered Dietitian and Fit Pro
  • Megan Flynn, MPH, RD, Life Time Foundation Nutrition Project Manager
  • Jay Ell Alexander, Owner and CEO of Black Girls Run!

“It’s been nearly a year since so many of our phenomenal events were forced to cancel or shift due to the pandemic. In that time, we’ve focused on initiatives that we know our community cares about and created our new Her Summit to cultivate a safe space for women to discover -- and rediscover -- themselves within the endurance industry,” says Michelle Duffy, associate marketing director of Off-Road Events at Life Time. “Her Summit is for those interested in dipping their toes into a sport outside of their comfort zone or understanding how to build a deeper sense of community and establish stronger self-worth.

“We’re excited to bring this event to life, in an environment where all questions and topics are welcomed, and we are ready to face comfortable and uncomfortable topics head-on,” she adds. “Ultimately, our goal is for every woman to feel stronger and more self-assured.”

Each day will begin with a fitness session led by a Life Time health expert followed by a motivational keynote speech, after which participants can join panel discussions or breakout sessions focused on on-course nutrition, gear mechanics, pregnancy, menopause and body acceptance and others, depending on personal interests.

Over three days, topics covered will include injury prevention, training tips, gear maintenance, feeling secure in the outdoors, women’s health, fuel and nutrition and others. Select breakout sessions will allow participants to learn more about other outdoor activities such as climbing, bikepacking, backpacking and backcountry skiing.

At the end of each day, participants can engage with one another and unwind during entertainment sessions including wine pairings and cocktail lessons. With the incorporation of live sessions and the creation of a private Facebook group, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, gain expert knowledge and build relationships with the rest of the Her Summit community.

The cost for the weekend event is $45 and includes access to all sessions, more than 30 total, and product giveaways. All content will be archived and able to be viewed by registered participants following the weekend. To learn more and to register, visit: www.hersummit.net
